Ella’s Story - in her own words
“You came to me like an angel when I was unravelled and helped me to grow my own roots.”
Since Claudia, my Support Worker, from the service Improving Lives has entered my world, my life has improved. I was not even surprised to learn her surname was Moses as her presence and influence in my life has been nothing short of a biblical experience. My self worth has multiplied and I now have an inner stability that I’m working on every day which was never there before Claudia. I was in a really bad way and suffering with debilitating PTSD from emotionally abusive relationships. I felt so afraid and unsure of anyone and I was very scared to meet new people or let anyone into my life, as I had been abused before and I no longer trusted my own inner compass.
I have no outside support and I’ve never been able to rely on anyone else outside of myself. This year I’ve also received a diagnosis for combined ADHD which explains a lot of my many struggles and much of the abuse stemmed from the behaviors and characteristics of this neurodiverse mind of mine. Since my engagement with the service, the continued support and dedication of Claudia has helped me elevate to a higher level because I’ve never had that before. I’ve never had a single person I can trust and rely on. That in itself has improved my life so greatly just to know I’ve got someone there for me who wont let me down. Someone who genuinely wants to help me get better.
“Claudia’s dedication and commitment to me as a person has helped uplift me to a better place because I’ve never had that before. I’ve never had anyone to rely on or that I can trust will keep to their word.”
Attending the communal groups also has benefitted me greatly. I find the experience to be very uplifting, it is great to meet other people and share our stories and make something together. I was very socially anxious and the craft group inspired me to get out more and be less scared of people. I’m really glad to have this support because it’s helping me to take care of myself and build foundations for the first time ever. Thank you without end for your support and involvement, and the service being available for people like me, is life changing.
I hope this service remains available to people in need and it truly does, improve lives.
